Instructive District Nursing Association Records, 1912-1926, 1914-1918.

The Community Health Association, first named the Boston Instructive District Nursing Association (IDNA), was founded in 1886 and incorporated in 1888. The IDNA cared for the sick in the patients' homes and instructed the ill and their families on how to prevent future illness. In 1922 the IDNA reorganized and combind its work with the Baby Hygiene Association and changed its name to the Community Health Association. Materials in the collection include correspondence, budgets, minutes, annual reports, course materials from the Simmons College School of Public Health Nursing and a photograph. Major correspondents include Mary Beard, Jeffrey Brackett, Mary Adelaide Nutting, Curtis Morrison Hilliard and Anne Hervey Strong.
